of Mr. Brewer. I did not know it was a proof. Mr. Brewer
didn't sign Ex.H. When I signed Ex.H the alterations that
are now on it had not been made, though the manner in which
capital had been treated had already been altered. I signed
Ex.H although Mr. Brewer who had altered it did not sign
because he had explained satisfactorily reasons for alter ä-
tions. When I signed, alterations in Chinese characters had
not been made.

In July 1923 I did not inform Official Receiver that I told
Mr. Brewer how balance sheet ought to be prepared.
I only
asked him how he did prepare it. I only asked him how balance
sheet was prepared. Perhaps Official Receiver misunderstood
me. I did not notice if balance sheet Ex.G was signed. The
balance sheet was given me ready typed out. I don't know who
typed it out. The note of a statement I made to Official
Receiver to the effect that this balance sheet was given me
to audit and that it took me 10 days to audit is incorrect.
Perhaps I was misunderstood to have said balance sheet and nót
balance sheets in the plural, for I was given 3 balance sheets,
and subsequently a combined one. I audited the 3 balance
sheets. I came to conclusion that they were 0.K. The balanc e
shoot that I signed Ex.G appeared a day or two after I had
reccived the 3 subsidiary balance sheets. It appeared to me
at time that Ex.G had been signed. I compared Ex.G with other
