Dear Calder:-

As was decided at our meeting on the 22nd of

October, I asked a member of the French Embassy to

come and talk to me about the case of Nguyen-ai-quoc.

Monsieur Truelle requested that he might be sent

a private letter setting out the present legal

position in this case, and asking him for the

desired information as to the attitude and wishes

of the French Government.

I enclose the draft of

such a letter, and shall be grateful if you will

let me know whether you concur in its terms.
