I see no objection to the
Governor's proposal that the Standard Stock should be increased to $550,000 for 1930 and 1931, but in view of the fluctuations in the value of the Dollar it is desirable that the figure for future years should be reconsidered at an appropriate date. As the purpose of the Standard Stock is to limit expenditure on stores for stock, the figure should be fixed either before or soon after the commencement
of the year to which it relates.
