of March, 1931, on the subject of increasing the
Chinese element in the Hong Kong University and
to forward herewith copy of a letter from the
Vice-Chancellor on the subject.

I send you this in order to mable you
to present the actual facts to Dr. Wang, when a
suitable opportunity should occur.

I personally an in favour of increasing
the Chinese element, as suggested, in the event
of suitable and well qualified candidates being
available and fortheming and i gave instruction
that the vacancies referred to in the last
paragraph of the Vice-Chancellor's letter should
be advertised in China.
