The Colony's surplus on the 1st January, 1931
was approximately $8,500,000 so that unless there are
exceptional and unexpected calls the year 1931 should finish
with a surplus of over $6,000,000.
In 1932 the new duties are estimated to bring in
$2,500,000 making the total revenue on the basis of 1931 of
approximately $30,000,000 whereas the expenditure on the
same lines as this year would amount to $30,668,000 plus
