somewhat difficult of justification which Mr.

Anderson enjoys over such officers as the Accountant

of the Treasury and the Chief Accountant of the

Railway, the latter being a highly expert accountant

with over 23 years service.

Whilst therefore we appreciate the manner in which

Mr. Anderson has shouldered the increased responsibility

so early thrust upon him, we consider that it is premature to make any further improvement in a salary

scale which has still six increments of £25 to run,

and which already (January, 1931) represents an increase

of 100% on the salary he received six years ago.
