Moreover
if withdrawal of allowance in cases of the latter kind will cause undue hardship to existing officers we agree that the grant may be continued as a personal allowance to the officer.
79. We have considered carefully the question whether G.C. 110.A.(2). should apply to launch crows and were at first inclined to recommend an extension in this direction but the repercussion on private employers and in other branches of the service (e.g. tho Fire Brigads and through that, the Police) seem likely to be so serious that we have come to the conclusion that such staff cannot be made eligible for allowances under this General Order which should be
amended to make this clear.
80. As stated in paragraph 16 above we do not consider it equitable that rent allowances merged in salary previously to the issue of G.0.110.A. should be
any bar to the drawing of allowances under that order and recommend that officers otherwise eligible. should draw the appropriate allowance from the 1st of January, 1931.
81. Lodging Allowance.
