SECTION 23.
Police Force.
27. Ex Lance-Sergeant of Police, T. McMahon,
invalided on account of injuries received on duty, has
been re-employed in the Police Department in a civil
capacity. We recommend that he should be absorbed
into Class III of the Senior Clerical & Accounting
Staff at £310 in the scale of that class. with the
appropriate privileges and liabilities in the matter
of rent.
28. Recruits. We accept the recommendation of the Inspector General of Police that Indian and
Chinese recruits should be paid at the rate of $24 per month and $18 per month respectively on first
joining and should receive the pay of 2nd Class
Constables only on being passed as efficient.
29. Motor Drivers. The Inspector General of
Police has recommended the retention of special
rates for Indian Police acting as Motor Drivers
as follows :
