He had been drawing at the

rate of £1,195 per annum i.e. more than the revised

minimum of the Registrar's post, This being a clear

contravention of Colonial Regulations we advise that

he must refund the amount drawn in excess of £1,150

per annum.

241. Sir J.H. Kemp on appointment as Chief Justice

took with him Ng Chun,

office attendant of his

former office, Lau Sing the Chief Justice's attendant

transferring to the Attorney General's office. In

order that Lau Sing shall not lose by transfer to the

Tower-paid post we recommend that his pay, personal to

himself, shall be on the scale for Judges' Office

Attendants, i.e. $312 to $360.

The Head Watchman, Supreme Court has

applied for an increase in his salary. He was, however,

promoted to his present post as recently as 1. 4. 20.

receiving an increase

of 25% and on revision he

receives a further 4

which we consider adequate.

SECTION 17.

Attorney General.

26. Ar. Somerset Fitzroy, Assistant to the

Attorney General was appointed to that duty in April

1927 at a salary of $1,000 per men sem. We consider

that this figure should be increased to $1,150 per

mensem as from the 1st of January, 1930.
