Enclosure No. 2.

numerous individuals who are required to interview

the Committee at its daily meetings; and it has only

been of recent years that the development of

communications in the Colony has made it possible to

consider the removal of the Kuk to a less central

position. Even so a site which meets all requirements

has not proved easy to find, and the area for a grant

of which a request has now been made to the Government

has been selected only after a number of other proposals had been considered and rejected.

4.

I enclose a plan showing coloured red

the area for which application has been made together

with a copy of the particulars and the conditions on

which with Your Lordship's sanction I propose to grant

a Crown Lease. This proposal has already been consider-

ed and approved by my Executive Council.

5.

The cost of the new buildings of which

plans are already under consideration will be defrayed

from funds provided by the Chinese community possibly

with some assistance from the Government.

6.

The Committee is anxious to begin the

work and I would therefore request that Your Lordship's

sanction, if granted, may be conveyed to me by telegram.

I have the honour to be,

My Lord,

Your Lordship's most obedient,

humble servant,

Line

Governor, &c.
