Dear Sir,

1 SEP 1931

In a letter dated April 8th addressed to Professor Gilbert Murray, the late under secretary of state for the Colonies stated that the next six- monthly report dealing with the question of the Mui Tsai system in Hong-Kong would cover the period ending May 3uth, 1931, and was expected to reach the Colonial (ffice towards the end of July. I should be very much obliged if you could inform me whether this report has now been received and, if so, whether you could favour me with a copy of it.

At the same time, I should be grateful if I might be informed whether effect has yet been given to the proposal to appoint an additional inspector in connection with the Department of the secretary for Chinese Affairs who will be specially concerned with Hui Tsai and with the carrying out of the regulations regarding them.

vours truly,

Sir Robert namilton, M.P.
