from other than natural causes.
Every
case is reported to the coroner, but
in no single case in 1928 did he see
any necessity for a formal death
enquiry.
17. It is hardly necessary
to point out that this question has
no connection at all with the mui tsai
custom, and is not peculiar to Hong
Kong. In the Metropolitan
Police District about 700 dead
bodies are discovered annually in the
streets and other public places, of
which a considerable proportion
are those of newly born infants.
