Gentlemen,
With reference to your letter M/S.A.604 of the 22nd July last, regarding the revised forms of agreement for the engagement of officers for service in Hong Kong, I am directed by Secretary Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister to request that paragraph 12 4 of the Agreements may be
paragraph 13 A. amended by the deletion of the words (at the end) "the Government will pay to him a bonus equal to three months' salary" and, the substitution therefor, of the words "the Government will grant him leave with full pay up to a maximum of three months, subject to a deduction in respect of any leave granted during the term of the engagement, other than sick or casual leave, and in addition, if the person engaged returns to England immediately on termination of the engagement, leave with half salary for the period of the voyage."
