WALCHIAOPU INTERVIEW
NOVEMBER 20th,1930.
Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Mr Hsu Mo.
H.M.Minister, and Mr Teichman.
(After the discussion of the first two questions regarding the Tariff and Extra-territoriality Dr Wang had to leave to see the President, and the rest of the interview was conducted with Mr Hsu Mo on his behalf.)
HONG KONG CUSTOMS AGREEMENT.
H.M.Minister enquired whether Mr Hsu Mo knew
anything about this matter. The position was that an
agreed draft had apparently been reached in Hong Kong.
He, Sir M. Lampson, had telegraphed home expressing the
hope that it might be possible to proceed immediately
to signature if H.M.Government approved of the draft.
Did är Hsu Mo know whether the M.F.A. would be able to
proceed with the matter?
Mr Hsu Mo said that he knew nothing more of this
matter than he had seen in the newspapers.
There was no
record of the question in the recent correspondence of
the Waichiaopu.
He could not therefore say anything
about it.
