Dear Boyd,
Will you please read the enclosed letter, and then kindly return, and let me know whether, from the Colonial Office point of view, there would be any objection to the King's sending a message to "The Hongkong Telegraph" on the
If 50th. anniversary of its establishment ? not, I propose to say that if a telegram were sent to the King on this occasion, a reply would be made, but that His Majesty could not initiate the communication.
