"That some financial organisation, similar to those set up by Belgian and German financial interests with the help of Egyptian colleagues, should be formed to help the United Kingdom to take her proper place in the development of Egypt and to gain her appropriate share of the resulting trade. Such an organisation should be Anglo-Egyptian and not all British".

ECONOMIC MISSION TO JAPAN AND CHINA.

19. (a) "That a conference of financial and industrial

interests should be summoned forthwith by His Majesty's Government to explore the possibilities of British participation in the development of China "

(b) "That the Department of Overseas Trade should call a

conference at an early date at which British bankers, industrialists, exporters and merchant houses interested in the Far Eastern markets should be represented, for the purpose of enquiring into the complaints as to the alleged inadequacy of British finance to meet the needs of the Chinese market, and deciding what action, if any, should be taken. It is recommended that this conference should consider the question of the provision of long term credits for exports of machinery and equipment to China".
