REPORT ON ORDINANCE No
7
of 1931.
1. I have examined the accompanying Ordinance. intituled an Ordinance to amend the law relating to Deportation, and I
an of opinion that the Ordinance is one which is not contrary
to the Governor's instructions.
2.
The object of this Ordinance is to amend the principal Ordinance (No. 25 of 1917) by reverting to the arrangement
adopted in the case of the previous principal Ordinance
(No. 9 of 1912), under which the provisions relating to deportation orders against British subjects were dealt with in a section separate from that which dealt with the deportation of aliens and to introduce special safeguards
This Ordinance also in the case of Eritish deportations.
amends the procedure in certain details as the result of
experience acquired in practice.
3.
Section 2 of this Ordinance repeals sections 3 and
4 of the principal Ordinance and substitutes new sections 3, 3A, 4, 4A, 4B and C. Of these the new section 3(1) (a) authorises the issue of summary orders against alien
