My Lord,
I have the honour to confirm my telegram No.114
of the 15th of June, 1931, which reads:-
"My despatch of 9th April No. 154 Deportation
Ordinance.
Certain objections raised by Chief
Justice are being forwarded with despatch.
If
not too late suggest ordinance be not submitted for signification of His Majesty's pleasure
pending further consideration".
2. I enclose copies of (a) a letter from the Chief Justice dated the 20th of May, 1931, (b) a minute dated the 28th of May, 1931, from the Attorney General, (c) a further letter dated the 10th of June, 1931, from the Chief Justice and (d) a further minute dated the
18th of June, 1931, from the Attorney General.

The provisions which are now criticised by the Chief Justice were drafted with a view to carrying
out the instructions contained in the Duke of Devonshire's confidential despatch of the 18th of June, 1923, having due regard to the fact that it is
