Opportunity was taken at the same time to rent the top floor of the same house on a five years lease from 1.6.31 at a monthly rental of $50 as quarters for 2 unmarried Inspectors for whom lodging allowance would otherwise have to be provided.

The above is to be met from savings under 2 Motor Cars and 2 Motor Vans (1931 Estimates page 66 sub-head 37). (C.S.O. 841/30).

The rent of scavenging coolies quarters at 81, Castle Peak Road has been raised by $4 per month as from 1.3.31. Owing to the demolition of the Old Blind Home in Kowloon City, it has been necessary to find other accommodation for 33 scavenging coolies. This necessitated a general re- arrangement of coolies quarters in Kowloon and the opportunity was taken to move out of the dilapidated and unsatisfactory premises in Tai Kok Tsui. The figure $221 represents the total sum required to supplement this sub-head for the current year.

The above is to be met from savings under 2 Motor Cars and 2 Motor Vans (1931 Estimates page 66 sub-head 37). (C.S.O. 841/30).
