ments.
Provision made in Estimates (page 107, sub-head 1)...$ 32,100
The work of storeman was up to May 18th done by a Regular soldier to whom an allowance of $365 per annum was granted. The War Office have now ruled that the employment of a Regular soldier as full time storeman to the Local Defence Force cannot be approved and the man has consequently been withdrawn. His place has been filled by the appoint- ment of a storeman on a salary of $550 per annum. The sum now required represents the difference between the two rates of pay for the period May 19th to December 31st viz. $115. (C.S.O. 59 in 3009/22).
* 42.-25, Medical Department:-55, Microscope for Bacteriological Institute
Provision made in Estimates (page 55 sub-head 56) ...$ 750
Owing to the difference between the exchange rate at the time of pre- paring the estimate and the present exchange rate, the provision made in Estimates is now found to be insufficient. A further sum of $50 is required. The microscope cost £37.0.5 @ 11 3/16 - $794.19 the balance. being for local landing charges.
The above is to be met from savings under Anti Rabic Work (1931 Estimates page 55 sub-head 30). (C.S.O. 27 in 220/30).
