My Lord,
I have the honour to report that I have
appointed Mr. Charles Gordon Stewart Mackie provisionally, and subject to His Majesty's pleasure to be temporarily
an unofficial member of the Executive Council in the place
of the Honourable Sir H. E. Pollock, K.C., who is
temporarily absent from the Colony.
2. The post was rendered vacant by the resignation
on his departure from the Colony on the 25th of April, 1931, of Mr. J. Owen Hughes who was appointed to act temporarily for Sir Henry Pollock as reported in Mr. Southorn's despatch No.200 of the 10th of April, 1930.
3. Mr. Mackie was appointed a temporary member of
the Legislative Council acting for Sir Henry Pollock as reported in Mr. Southorn's despatch No.219 of the 16th of April, 1930, and has once previously been appointed a temporary member of the Executive Council during the
temporary absence from the Colony of the Honourable Mr. W. E. L. Shenton which was reported in my despatch No.308 of the 6th of June, 1930.
