Mr Gelder karshall mentioned the anse of The

Eastern Trading Company in which the Chinese were procead-

ing against the Chinese Manager of the Company on account

of a contract signed by him on the pretaxt that the

Company itself, not having registered, could not be re-

cognised as a juridical body. In the same connection

had

Mr Burkhill mentioned a similar onze with which he

had to deal in connection with his insurance agency in

Manchuria. sir . Lampson referred briefly to the

attitude af H.H.G, namely that if such registration

of

regulations were reasonable they would probably have

to be complied with in the long rum, since similar

registration prosedure axisted in other countries.

In the meanwhile, however, the matter should, if pos-

sible, be treated as part of the general Extra-

territori✅lity issue

Er Foodhead enquired whether it would not be pos-

sible for the Minister to authorise the issue of ame

statement in regard to the question of the Fuomintang

in Malaya to counteract the Chinese propaganda on the

subject. Sir A. Lupson explained why he was against

starging a newzpapar controversy on this delieste ques-

tion and gave a brief outline of the situation which he

found existing in Malaya as the result of the enormous

infltration of Chinese and the outcome of the disensoions

which he had and with the singapore authorities on the

subject.
