Referring to the political situation, Mr. Burkhill
mentioned the fears which existed in Chinese circles
with whom he came in contact in the flour businesa of
another civil war breaking out in the North, It appeared
that the "Old Juard” in Manchuria were dissatisfied with
the arrangements made by Chang Haush-liang with Banking,
holding that the Young Marshal had exceeded his authority.
Discussing the subject of communiam and the little
prorem which had apparently been made by the Chinese
Government in their anti-communist campaign, Messrs.
Brown and Leslie said that there was some slight improvemer:t
noticeable in Hupel and Hunan but none in Kiangsi.
