my Executive Council, to recommend Your
Lordship to consent to the grant of the immediate
relief asked for namely suspension for the
time being of payments in respect of interest
and sinking fund on the loan from Government
in order that an opportunity may be given the
school authorities to review their position
and, if possible, to devise means whereby
their financial obligations may be met in
future, either through an expansion of their
resources or a reduction of their activities.
5.
In this connection it is relevant to
explain that the revision of the system of
grants-in-aid paid to non-Government schools
is now under consideration and it is not
unlikely that proposals will be adopted which
will have the effect of increasing the amounts
payable to Grant-in-aid English Schools.
I have the honour to be,
My Lord,
Your Lordship's most obedient, humble servant,
Lime
Governor, &c.
