GOVERNMENT HOUSE,

HONGKONG, 21st October, 1930.

Enclosure No. 1.

Enclosure No. 2.

My Lord,

I have the honour to inform Your

Lordship that an application has been received from

the Pro Vicar Apostolic in Hong Kong, the Reverend

Father G. M. Spada, for an area of land at Waterloo

Road, as shown coloured red on the attached plan.

The purchase is made on behalf of the Maryknoll Sisters,

who have done much good educational work in the Colony, and they propose to open a school for girls on the

site. In view of the fact that the area is situated

immediately on the South East Corner of the new and populous garden suburb of Kowloon Tong I agree with the Director of Education who reports that a school in this locality is most desirable.

2.

I consider that in this case a sale by

public auction might be dispensed with and I have the honour to ask Your Lordship's permission to sell the land in question by private treaty on the terms and conditions as set out in enclosure No.2, which have been considered and approved by my Executive Council.

LORD PASSFIELD,
