higher officers in sterling and to convert the salaries into

local dollars at $10 to the pound. Of course when the dollar

goes below 2/-d (it is at the moment 1/4.15/16ths) the number

of dollars has to be increased.

In working out the estimate

I have assumed a dollar worth 2/-d, not that I think for a

some time, but merely as a convenient basis of calculation.

If the Law School were established, it would be, to

start with at any rate, a part of the Faculty of Arts.

Subsequently, of course, a Faculty of Law might evolve.

I am sending you a copy of the University Calendar

for 1930 which will explain how our courses are arranged.

I attach a draft scheme. The School would cost about

£6000/7000 a year. We have not got a penny nor is there any

present prospect of raising any money here for a School of Law.

If the money could be raised at home, it would be well spent.

I am,

Yours sincerely,

Signed W. W. Hornell

Vice-Chancellor.

The Report and the Calendar are being sent under another

cover.
