COL.OFFICE

My Lord,
In continuation of Sir Cecil Clementi's
52760 confidential despatch of 16th December, 1927, on the subject
of the recruitment of Chinese labour for Dutch Borneo, I have
the honour to forward a copy of a revised contract which has
now been prepared by the East Borneo Company.
2.
The divergences from the former contract
appear, so far as they are material, to be in favour of the
labourer, and I have informed the Consul General for the
Netherlands that there is no objection to its use but that
this authorisation may be rescinded should it not meet with
Your Lordship's approval.
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
LORD PASSFIELD,
&C.,
&C.,
&c.
I have the honour to be,
My Lord,
Your Lordship's most obedient,
humble servant,
Fil-
Governor, &c.
