Enclosure No.2.

COPY:

THE "STAR" FERRY COMPANY LIMITED.

Ref.18-J.

Sir,

HONG KONG.

58

19th March, 1929.

Vehicular Ferry Service.

With reference to your letter No. 1510/1925 of January 29th, 1 have the honour to enquire on behalf of my

Board of Directors whether and on what terms the Government

is prepared to grant to this Company, for the purpose of

conducting a Vehicular Ferry across the Harbour.

(1) Pier Lease for 50 years on South side

of Jordan Road, opposite Kowloon Marine Lot

No. 49, for construction of Concrete Slipway, necessary guide piles and landing stage. (2) Pier Lease for same period and for same purpose as (1) opposite Jubilee Street,

Hong Kong.

As the cost of building the piers and Ferry Boats

for combined passenger and vehicular traffic will be

considerable and as there are already two main passenger ferry services operating between Victoria and the Mainland and a third service is not considered necessary, would Government consent to and arrange for the Yaumati Ferry terminus being moved to Jordan Road and combined into the proposed vehicular ferry service?

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your obedient servant,

The Honourable

Colonial Secretary,

HONG KONG.

(Sd). C.M. Manners.

Acting Secretary.
