No. 3 in Fed.Sec.S.2284/1929.
Sir,
Enclosure No. 1
GOVERNMENT HOUSE,
KUALA LUMPUR.
30 September, 1929.
6
With reference to Your Excellency's letter No. 1 in
3515/1925 of the 31st of July, 1929, forwarding a copy of
your despatch to the Secretary of State for the Colonies,
suggesting the transfer of Dr. R.B. Jackson and Mr. Deb of
the Federated Malay States service to the service of the
Hongkong Government, I have the honour to inform you that
the Federated Malay States Government has no objection to
the transfer of these officers.
2.
Dr. Jackson states that he is prepared to accept the
transfer provided that he will be at no disadvantage
regarding his home leave, passages and pensions. Mr. Deb
also is prepared to accept the transfer but desires to be
paid full pay on long leave with free passage to and from
Calcutta. Under the Federated Malay States General Orders,
he is entitled only to 6 months' leave on half pay after
6 years' resident service, and is not entitled to free
passages.
3.
As requested in your letter, I enclose a statement
giving the scale of salaries and allowances which the two
officers are at present drawing and the scale for which
they would become eligible in the normal course of promotion.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
His Excellency
The Governor of Hongkong,
H ON G K ON G.
Your Excellency's most obedient servant,
(sd.) Hugh Clifford
M.C.S.
HIGH COMMISSIONER.
