it stands to reason, therefore, we think, that if it is
at all possible for any British Government Overseas to
support a British house, then everything else being equal,
preference should be given to British concerns. The
severity of competition nowadays in business all over, warrants
a much closer co-operation between British firms and British
Government Officials, with a view to expanding British trade,
but we rather fear that if the same spirit as has been prevalent,
according to our observations, continues to be manifest, it
must surely have a disadvantageous effect on the final results
of any such ambition.
We would just like to assure you that,
so far as we are concerned, our whole aim in business is to
advance British industry as much as possible, but this can
only, in the end, be accomplished if we have co-operation too.
