One of the pleas of the local Officials
in the Public Works Department was, that the material was
quite unsuitable, and this statement was made without their
having gone to any trouble whatsoever in trying to afford
us all the facilities for demonstrating the utility and
economy of our material. Since, therefore, we are allied ́
to The International Bitumen Emulsions in London, we would
like to suggest that this whole question be referred to
their Board of Directors, who will be able to give all the.
information which your office may require as regards
comparative costs, suitability of the material and any other
particulars which you may require to enable you to form a
proper opinion of the whole position.
We had occasion to audress you on 25th November
last year, in regard to "RAY" Signs, which complaint is
somewhat on a parallel with the present one.
In that case,
it was a question of possibly affecting the vexed question
of unemployment at Home, and while the present dis-satisfaction
in regard to "COLFIX", hardly applies in the same way, yet
it means that an opportunity is being denied a company like
our own, who are endeavouring to promote further local industry
in this Colony, and which, incidentally, is adversely affecting
British trade as a whole.
We believe that most of the
commitments of the local Government over the last year or two
for Hot Asphalt, have been placed with an American concern, and
