90L. OFFICE

TRATOR OF WIRELESA SERVICE

IN HONG KONG TO IMPERIAL & INTER-- NATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS

LIMITRY.

I.C.C. 1219.

77. The Committee had under consideration correspondon o

regarding the proposal that Imperial and International

Communications Limited should take over the Government

W/T. Station at Hong Kong. (I. C. C. 1219).

MR. VERION said that it appeared that Hong Kong

were willing to hand over the Station on certain

conditions including the provision by the Company of

a service of overseas Radio Telephony, and that the

Admiralty had no objection so long as the Naval W/T

Station was not affected and they were consulted before

any new Station was erected, which might be liable to

cause interference.

MR. PHILLIPS asked if any agreement had yet been

reached in this matter.

MR. VERNON said no.

He

In reply to a question from Captain Dorling he sai

that he did not know where the Company proposed to put

their Station, but he presumed that it would consult

with the Admiralty before taking any action.

remarked that the local telephone service in Hong Kong

was at present under the control of a Local Company,

but he had suspicions that the International Telegraph

and Telephone Company of America had got an eye on thi

system as a desirable acquisition.

CONCLUSION

The Committee agreed to take note of the above paper.
