My Lord,
I have the honour to report that I have
appointed Mr. Charles Gordon Stewart Mackie provisionally,
and subject to His Majesty's pleasure to be temporarily
an unofficial member of the Executive Council in the place
of the Honourable Mr. W. E. L. Shenton who is temporarily
absent from the Colony.
2.
Mr. Shenton has left for England on a visit
which is expected to extend over a period of about five
months.
3.
Mr. Mackie was appointed to be provisionally and temporarily a member of the Legislative Council in the
place of Sir H. E. Pollock, K.C., as reported in Mr.
Southorn's despatch No.219 of 16th April last.
4.
A copy of the instrument appointing Mr.
Mackie is enclosed.
5.
In accordance with Colonial Regulation 175
I enclose also a list of the present members of the Executive
Council.
