assurance that each new appointee to the post of
Superintendent of the Hong Kong Telegraph Office
will refrain from all political activities, but
it may be possible to get round this point, and
in other respects I hope that the procedure out-
lined in my Aide-Memoire may in future be followed.
4. The next move lies with the Minister
for Foreign Affairs, and no further action on our
part appears to be required until the name of a
fresh candidate for the post is communicated to us.
