In the case of officers on dollar salaries
the general recommendations of the Commission are
based on a 20% increase.
The major points on which the Governor
desires to modify these recommends are
as
follows.
CADET SERVICES.
There should always be 7 posts in Class I
Cadet Service including the appointment of
Secretary of Chinese Affairs which is now for
salary purposes in a "staff" class of its own.
Mr.Hallifax should retain his personal allowance
of £300 per annum, that is to say that his
emoluments will now be £1,800 per annum plus
£300 instead of £1,500 plus £300.
INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE.
The Governor points out that it is now
necessary to provide for a Deputy Inspector
General for which post he recommends a fixed
salary of £1,400, the Inspector-General's scale
being increased to £1,450 to £1,600.
