HONG KONG.

The unit of currency in Hong Kong is the
"Hong Kong dollar".

The currency media are (1) coins and (2)
Of these coins alone are legal tender, but as it is obviously impracticable to carry out business transactions in coins about a pound weight of which go to the pound sterling, there was a long standing convention only recently abandoned, and still retaining some vitality, by which notes alone are used in all
except minor transactions.
As regards coin there are three "dollars"
all of which are alike legal tender:-

The last has not been minted for 60 yeats
and is no longer in circulation.
The first is no longer minted and is rapidly
disappearing.
The British Trade dollar is minted, in quantities not less than a fixed minimum, at London and Bombay on the demand of any person who produces
necessary silver and pays the necessary seign-iorage.
