In these circumstances, the Chinese Minister is
in
instructed to request that the Indian Government,
disposing its surplus silver, have regard for the difficult
situation now existing in China. Specifically, the Chinese
Government hope that sales of silver be not made when the
London price is lower than twenty-two pence nor when the
price has fallen by more than one per cent in the month
preceding a given time. The Chinese Government would
greatly appreciate the friendly co-operation of competent
British authorities in this matter which is of such urgent
and vital importance to the Chinese people.
