My Lord,

I have the honour to inform Your Lordship that

I am advised by the Director of Public Works that a sum of

$20,000 will be required next year for the construction of

a rubble mound to provide a dump for surplus material in

connection with further reclamation at North Point, and the

disposal of spoil and rubble excavated from a balance tank

and other works which are being undertaken in that vicinity.

2. Reference to the plan attached will show that

reclamation has now proceeded as far eastwards as Marine Lot

431. The layout to the eastward shown on the plan is in

accordance with the general plan of port development.

essential part of this development is the construction of

the main 100 ft. roadway. The present proposal is to employ

the sum of $20,000 for the purpose of constructing a rubble

wall, as shown in red on the plan, to retain the dumped

material.

3. In this way the engineers advise that the sum

of $3,800 will be saved on the cost of the balance tank alone

by reason of the cheaper disposal of spoil and further savings will be effected in the port development department by
