REPORT ON LEE KEE (CHINAMAN) ST. JOHN, N.B.

On September 24th, 1929, information was received
from the Customs Department that a parcel containing a
suspicious substance, addressed to the above named, was
being held at the local Post Office. This parcel
contained a Chinese book, with the inside pages cut so
as to form two receptacles, in which were two rubber
condums filled with a substance found to be 'opium prepared
for smoking; weight approximately two ounces, one
hundred and seventeen grains.
It was subsequently ascertained that there was no
Chinaman of the above name at the address given on the
parcel. According to the wrapper on the parcel the
sender is Choi Wah Co., Hong Kong, China. A rubber stamp
mark was on the book as follows:-
"Man Bow Sing,
No. ? Bonham W.,
Hong Kong, China."
and on page one the writing "Inside forty small, Sai Shan
mentioned it."
