As a result, it was considered

evidence has been obtained to warrant a charge of
comspiracy against the Chinamen who were found to be in
the background, and this phase of the matter is now being
proceeded with.
The circumstances, as now known, are interesting,
and show the undoubted trend on the part of the Chinese
to endeavour to obtain white men to perform the actual
act of importation so that the Chinese will avoid both
arrest and deportation, and one or two cases of conspiracy directed against the latter will, it is hoped, meet this
situation.
Due to the excellent work of the Mounted Police
officers, we were able to obtain convictions in both cases as above stated, and in so far as the Chinamen in the background are concerned this matter is now receiving
attention.
