21st February, 1930.

I am directed by Mr. Secretary Clynes to

enclose, for the information of Lord Passfield, a

copy of a report made by the Canadian Government to

the League of Nations of the seizure at Nanaimo, B.C.,

on the 21st July, 1928, of 1,440 cans of prepared opium

consigned from Canton and Hongkong, from which it

appears that a report of the case was sent at the time

to the Authorities at Hongkong. Mr. Clynes will be

glad if the Government of Hongkong may be instructed

to report the result of any investigations made by

them into this case.

I am,

Sir,

Your obedient Servant,
