I am directed by Mr. Secretary Clynes to refer to

the seizure of Chinese opium at Hong Kong on board the armed

launch of the Kwantung Opium Suppression Bureau, which was

reported in the telegram from the Officer administrating the

Government of Hong Kong dated 15th March last, and to Foreign

Office correspondence in this matter ending with Foreign

Office letter (F.2897/119/87) of the 3rd June; and to say that

as the seizure was reported in the press and may be referred to

at Geneva, Mr. Clynes will be glad to have a report on the

proceedings in regard to the opium subsequent to the telegraphic

despatch to Sir Miles Lampson.
