there is a certain amount of evidence to show
that some of the Lam Kee Hop (Macao) brands
of opium are being dealt with in the French
Concession. One tin of "A" grade Lam Kee Hop
"Cook" brand opium was secretly obtained by
the Municipal Police from the Kwong Sang Vuen
Company), 229 Rue Weikwe,
French Concession, through an employee, as well
as impressions of a number of business "chops"
used by this Company. This appears sufficient
proof that the Lam Kee Hop (Macao) have agencies
in the French Concession.
The opium "brokers" in the French
Concession state that Lam Kee Hop brand opium
is not stocked for local consumption, but is
prepared to order, the smallest order being for
500 tins and that any brand can be obtained, but
only through the recognised smugglers.
Two grades of the "Cock" brand opium,
known as "A" and "B" are supplied by the Lam Kee
Hop Company. These are packed in 5 oz. or 5
tael tins and are reported to be sold in the
U.S.A. at G.$65.00 and G.$35.00 per tin respect-
ively.
Attached is a photographic copy of the
impressions of the various "chops" etc. afore-
mentioned.
Further inquiries are being continued
with a view to ascertain further information on
this subject.
