We have, for acknowledgement, your letter of the
28th March No. H.K.0260, advising the conditions under
which military guards will be provided and that any
applications for guards after 3let March must be made in
full knowledge and acceptance of these conditions.
In the circumstances and as advised in our
letter dated 26th March, we are left with no option
but to accept the one rous conditions stated. In order
that we may advise our Principals, we shall be glad if
you will inform us the maximum liability under the
following conditions of paragraph 4 of your letter under
reply: -
"Companies will continue to be liable for "officers and men during any disability "incurred whilst lent to the Company, and "for the cost of medical and hospital "treatment, and for any disability "gratuities or pensions arising out of "the employment, including compensation "to widows and dependente."
We would again, however, ask you to pass on
to His Kajesty's Government our request that reconsideration
be given to the question of the total charges connected
with the guards being borne by the Steamship Companies
concerned.
