The enclosed statement regarding anti-piracy

measures in China, prepared by the Rear-Admiral, Hongkong,

for the information of Kr.Hollington . Tong, Civil

Secretary to Admiral Tu Hsi-kuei of the Chinese Naval Mission

to Europe, is submitted for the information of Their Lordships

2. Mr.Hollington Tong called on the Rear-Admiral at

Hongkong on the 11th May, and, after discussing the pirate situation in China, requested the latter to prepare a

statement of the present position and measures recommended for

adoption by the Chinese Authorities for the suppression of

pirates.

3. A copy of this statement, in which I fully concur,

has been sent to lir. Tong, who is now residing in Tientsin.
