In the case of Hong Kong the local
Electricity Company was not, as far as I can
trace, incorporated by special local ordinance,
but under the Hong Kong Companies Ordinance.
It would therefore be more difficult for the
Governor to prevent the sale of the local
electricity company to foreign financial groups,
but if thought necessary an ordinance on the
lines of Mauritius 17/10 entitled "An Ordinance
to provide for the purchase of Electric Under-
takings by the Government" might be considered.
I would also draw attention to Hong Kong Ordinance
No.10 of 1900 sec.3 and to the definition of
Any powers taken

under this ordinance would apparently be on a par
with the powers given in the Bahamas Act referred
to above where reference is made in sec .36 to the
fact that the Gas works when installed may be
acquired under the Acquisition of Land Act
