My Lord,
With reference to previous correspondence terminating with the despatch of the Officer Administering the Government No.369 of the 20th of July, 1928, regarding the security for the note issue of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, I have the honour to inform Your Lordship that at the request of the Bank, this Government, on the 14th of November, 1929, authorized the Government of
the Straits Settlements to release Straits Dollars $115,000 Straits Settlements 51% Conversion Loan redeemable 15th
November, 1929, which was held as part of the security for the note issue. Apart from this the note issue is amply covered by securities and silver dollars already ear-marked.
