or in the second subject, viz.:

The paper on Hygiene and Nursing and the Oral and Practical examination

in Nursing,

will be credited with this subject, and will not be required to take it again on re-entry.

A candidate who re-enters for the subject Anatomy and Physiology will have an oral examination lasting twenty minutes in Anatomy and Physiology, in addition to the written paper.

A candidate who re-enters for the subject of Hygiene and Nursing will, in addition to the written examination and the practical examination, have an oral examination in Hygiene lasting ten minutes.

(2) THE FINAL EXAMINATION.

For the General Part of the Register (“ Registered Nurses”).

The written part will consist of three papers, the morning papers, for each of which one and a half hours will be allowed, will consist of:

A paper on Medicine and Medical Nursing, containing six questions, of which

only three must be answered, and

A paper on Surgery and Surgical Nursing, Gynaecology and Gynaecological Nursing, containing six questions, of which only three must be answered,

but

The afternoon paper, for which two and a half hours will be allowed, will contain:

Two questions on Medical Nursing, of which only one must be answered, two questions on Surgical Nursing, of which only one must be answered, and six questions on General Nursing, of which only three must be answered. The oral and practical part will consist of an oral examination of ten minutes in Medicine and Medical Nursing, and an oral examination of ten minutes in Surgery and Gynaecology and Surgical and Gynaecological Nursing, and an examination both oral and practical in Nursing, lasting twenty minutes (ten minutes with each examiner).

The written answers to the morning papers and the oral part of the examina- tion in Medicine, Surgery and Gynaecology will be marked by Medical Examiners, the written answers to the afternoon paper and the oral and practical examination in Nursing by Nurse Examiners.

II. EXAMINERS, ASSISTANT EXAMINERS, PRESIDING EXAMINERS AND INVIGILATORS.

1. For each examination conducted by the Board the examining body shall consist of four members of whom at least one shall be a nurse.

2. Nurse Examiners will be appointed to conduct the oral and practical part of the Preliminary Examination, and the practical part of the Final Examinations.

3. A list of teachers will be prepared, comprising both Medical Practitioners and Nurses, who are or have been, engaged in teaching at the Training Schools approved by the Board. Any such teacher will be eligible to be appointed as Examiner according to the conditions, of which the Board shall from time to time give notice.

4. It will be the aim of the Board as far as possible to appoint as Examiners for the Register persons who arc, or have been, engaged in teaching nurses for the examina- tions, and this both in the Preliminary and Final Examinations.

III. GENERAL ARRANGEMENTS.

1. The Presiding Examiner will be furnished with a box containing answer books, time table of the examination, candidate list, register for attendance, and other materials for the conduct of the examination. Packets of the examination papers will be sent to
