Numerous applications for new metered services are being received on account of the rapid development on the Peninsula.

73.-31, Public Works. Extraordinary: -Communications, New Territories, Circular Road, Ngau Tau Kok to Shatin via Sai Kung, Preliminary Works

This Vote is requested to meet the cost of preliminary works and forming a permanent trace on the line of the proposed road. The total length of the road will probably be about 231⁄2 miles. (C.S.O. 598/26.)

This contribution for £210 was estimated for at a 2 dollar. When we accepted debit for the amount the rate of the dollar was 1/11. A Supplementary Vote of $92 is required to meet the increase due to the fall in the rate of exchange.
