Circular Eastern Road (25 ft. wide)-1st Section, Kowloon City to Sai Kung, $200,000.-Owing to the rapid development of the Kowloon Penin- sula as a business centre it is considered advisable to provide a road that will give easy and convenient access to areas so as to allow of their being open- ed as building sites for residential purposes. This road will traverse coun- try that meets these requirements and will eventually be extended to Shatin Railway Station via Three Fathoms Cove. The amount included in these estimates is for the section between Kowloon City (Ngau Chi Wan) and Ma Yau Tong.
Reconditioning Roads, $30,000.-Owing to the increasing motor traffic that is carried over the New Territory roads it is essential that these roads should be strengthened and this vote is required for the purpose.
MISCELLANEOUS.
Furniture, $1,500.-Previously this item was included in the Hong Kong Vote. It has now been found advisable that each district should carry its own vote.
PUBLIC HEALTH AND BUILDINGS ORDINANCE.
Compensation and Resumption, $5,000.-This sum is included in the Estimates to provide for general small compensations and resumptions that may be found necessary or desirable during 1930.
